Bundle Dye and Flower Pounding with Monica Wilson
Saturday, July 6th 10am-2pm
If you've been curious about natural dyeing then this is the class for you. Come spend an afternoon on the farm learning the art of bundle dyeing and flower pounding, sometimes called hapazome. We will harvest dye flowers from the farm to use in your pieces. Monica will talk about proper fabric preparation to set you up for success. Each participant will take home a silk scarf and prints on watercolor paper. Come ready to have fun in a beautiful farm setting!
All workshops take place at Wild Dreams Farm and Seed and include a farm grown lunch, tea, and a farm tour.
Cost including materials: $105
As part of our commitment to inclusivity and equity we are offering BIPOC scholarships for each workshop. There is no application- only a desire to attend. Please email jennifer@ wilddreamsfarm.org to claim your spot.
About Monica:
Monica Wilson, of Solidago Grow, is a natural dyer, sewer, and artist in the Pacific Northwest. After over a decade as a hairstylist in Downtown Seattle, she found herself searching for another creative pursuit. Eventually, she found natural dyeing and it was a perfect fit - combining her other favorite interests of sewing and gardening.
The first dye plant she grew was indigo and the moment she created a sea blue from an unassuming green plant she was hooked. She now grows many dye plants to share and use in her practice, where she creates dyed goods and shares her love of creating natural color through teaching others.
Monica currently lives across the water on beautiful Vashon Island with her husband, 3 busy kids, a dog, cat, several goats and many, many chickens.
