It's Equinox GO Time!
Jennifer WilliamsDear Growers,
It’s GO time! Spring Equinox is here; the brief time of equal day and equal night before the days get longer and we open our first true leaves of 2026 to the growing warmth of the Sun. It is a time of rebirth, expansion, and intention. I'd like to share a few of my intentions with you all.
I plan to send out weekly newsletters sharing what I'm seeding that week; talking through the challenges I have; and offering tips and tricks I have learned over twenty five years of growing. I hope it's helpful to you! My goal is to share more about how to be successful in your gardens with seeds and plants. If you have a question email me! I will add my response to this newsletter.
I intend to do my best to support this community of growers. I am beyond grateful that you have bought seeds from me, read a newsletter, or said hello at a market. I appreciate you! And so with that in mind- I want to offer you subscribers 25% off All Seeds This Equinox Weekend. Use Code Equinox25 at check out to get the discount. Tell your friends!
I will always talk about how it feels for me to be a farmer in this time of unravelling. The feelings and questions that come up for me as a person trying to grow seeds and plants for liberation. You may not care about these parts and thats fine. I share because I learn and grow myself in the process and your thoughtful emails back to me bring me so much joy. Please keep sending them. So now for the feelings :)
Equinox to me feels a bit like a New Year is beginning. As I began to prepare this newsletter this morning, I closed my eyes, breathed deeply and asked myself a few questions. What will this farm season hold for me and those of us working towards liberation and justice through growing and gardening? We who challenge this fascist, racist, colonial government bringing war and violence to our communities inside these false borders and around the world? This list poured out of me onto the page...
We will fight back and we will fight with love, with flowers, and bunches of beets in our fists.
We will take care of each other, old friends and new, with food, flowers, and community gatherings to share the bounty of this earth with everyone.
We will be gentle with the soil and the plants and one another as we build the new world while the old paradigms unravel around us.
We will take the garden and our obligation to tend this earth in reciprocity seriously.
We will thank the soil, the plants, the birds, the insects, the rain, the sun, the moon, the wind, and every bit of life that is needed to sustain our bodies and our families and our communities.
We will tend and grow and harvest with fierce love in our hearts.
We will learn from the earth and one another how to better be in community because our future depends on one another.
We will be the ones in the streets who bring flowers, who share seeds, who make soup and tea to be sure we are well nourished in our collective struggle.
What would you add to this list?
So let’s get out there and grow! And listen to the earth and each other! And serve! And share!
May this growing season be a blessing on the earth and one another.
