Genovese Basil

Ocimum basilicum

This classic Italian heirloom basil variety has been my go to for years. Tall upright plants are slow to bolt, especially if you continually harvest the tips, yet the flowers are amazing insect attractors. Good for outdoor or hoop house growing, no summer is complete without your own basil patch!

For best results start these heat loving basil seeds indoors in April and transplant outside when weather has warmed in May.  I sow another round in May for a long season harvest.
