Rainbow Bush Bean Mix

Phaseolus vulgaris

Grow a rainbow of beans in your garden this year!  This mix contains many different colors and sizes of beans- purple, green, red, marbled, mostly for eating as dry beans.   You can harvest them young as green beans but mostly this mix is meant to grow for saving the seeds and eating the dry beans.  The original mix comes from Cicada Seeds on Vancouver Island on the Sunshine Coast.  Michalena is doing amazing things with her seed company so please check them out.

Growing Dry Beans

Plant when soil has warmed in Early May.  Water weekly through mid August then stop so the plants begin to dry down.  Harvest the pods when plants are brown and crispy and the beans inside are dry enough to not leave an indentation with your thumbnail. Enjoy threshing with friends and family!  It’s hard to resist a bowl full of bean pods waiting to be opened.
