Brassica juncea
Striking look and bold flavor, this versatile mustard green goes well in a braising mix, salad mix or on their own. Feathery, deeply lobed leaves that are red on the outside and bright green on the underside, harvest these beauties as baby greens or full sized leaves. With just the right amount of spice they are bold but not overpowering.
Growing Mustards
Mustard greens can be sown in early Spring all through September for a continuous supply. They germinate well in cooler soils and hold in well in the ground through a light frost over the winter. They can bolt quickly in the heat of the Summer months so find a shady spot for your July sowings. Mustards can be direct sown in the soil and germinate quickly. Thin to 4”-6” for baby or full sized greens. I eat the thinnings as baby greens and give space for others to grow larger for braising greens. You can also sow mustards indoors to transplant out but I find they bolt faster with this method.
Days to Maturity- 25 days baby, 45 full sized leaf.
Packet contains ~150 seeds
